ZL1 is the rarest option code ever produced for a Corvette. It means that the engine block is manufactured in aluminium for weight reduction, and a gain of 80 kgs on the front end of the car, in comparison between a complete 427 ci iron engine and the ZL1.

The first European owner for this option was Henri Greder for the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970, due to his great relationship with Zora Arkus Duntov. The result was astonish, Henri finished in 6th position overall in 1970. Unfortunately the Porsche managers claimed to the ACO Official saying that the distance effected by the Corvette was not sufficent in relation with the displacement engine. The verdict fall and the Corvette was not classified. But it’s very interesting to note that a GT raced by a private team, finished the 24 hours race just behind two Ferraris 512S and three Porsches prototypes !!! MORE...

24 hours of Le Mans 2012
ZL1 Team would like to congratulate the winning Larbre Competition Corvette ZR1 in LM GTE AM driven by Pedo Lamy, Bornhauser and Canal, who were going to obtain the victory in the last minutes of the 24 hours by passing the leading IMSA Matmut Competition Porsche.

Le Mans Classic 2012 18 days before start of the 6th edition, we are now officially registered for the race !
So, we will defend our 2008 and 2010 winnings.

We now would like to give you a "rendez-vous" at Le Mans for this unique vintage racing cars meeting, which is like a race cars moving museum. A must in car racing which can't be missed !

we are back from SPA Classic, unfortunately everything did not happened as per our expectations, especially to the fact that we have only one set of fresh tyres.
In fact, the GoodYear Manufacturer promiss to us month after month that our rear tyres will be available but we are still waiting them.
As a result, except the fact that we have to effectuate the free practice and 1st qualifying session with very used tyres, we had, for the first time braking failure and then a very big braking problem ! The master cylinder broke during the race, after a very good start despite our 5th qualifying position, in the "Combes" , I was j! ust behing the rear bumber of the Porsche RSR "Toblerone" qualified 3rd, driven by Didier Denat.
Curve after curve braking begun to be bad until the instant when the pedal went to the floor during the braking in the "Combes" curve. I tried to manage the brakes on the next ones but without good results. After several missing brakings and a 360 degrees I decided to stop, because it was too risky to continue.
It was better to stop without any damage for the car, that was the most important !

And as we have not yet received our new fresh tyres, we declined our participation to the Imola Classic.
We keep our one and only set of new fresh tyres for Le Mans Classic, and are now on 3rd position in waiting list "plateau 5".

2012 Season
The 2012 Season will see plenty of racing events. It will begin at Spa and close at the Paul Ricard circuit
for the 10.000 laps event, Imola and the Le Mans Track will be part of the middle season.
This year will see the "Le Mans Classic" event organized by Patrick Peter organization.
